Project Description

Our company had the honor of participating in one of the most ambitious infrastructure investments in Poland – the construction of a bored tunnel under the Świna Strait, connecting the islands of Uznam and Wolin. As part of the project, we were responsible for the construction of two reinforced concrete evacuation exits in the tunnel, which was built using advanced Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) technology. Our task required precise approach, solid structural solutions, and adherence to strict safety standards.

The entire investment included not only the construction of the bored tunnel under the strait but also the preparation of access roads to the tunnel. Sections of open-cut and overhead methods were used on the islands of Uznam and Wolin, allowing effective integration of the newly constructed tunnel with the existing road infrastructure. Our work in reinforced concrete construction was critical to ensuring the necessary safety level in the tunnel, especially in emergency situations.

An important part of the road system developed as part of the investment was the access roads to the tunnel. On the Wolin Island, a maneuvering yard and a roundabout intersection were built, while on Uznam Island, a T-junction was constructed, improving road traffic flow and facilitating communication in the tunnel area. The sustainable development of the road infrastructure in this location is another crucial step in improving the quality of life for residents and facilitating transport between the islands.

The scope of the investment also included the reconstruction of adjacent streets, significantly enhancing the functionality of the entire road network. The modernization of these arteries has improved the connectivity of the region and increased traffic capacity. The project has enhanced road safety and improved accessibility to key areas of Świnoujście.

Our involvement in the realization of this project was incredibly satisfying, particularly in the construction of reinforced concrete evacuation exits in the tunnel. We are proud to have contributed to such an important investment, which not only connects two islands but also serves as one of the most significant infrastructure elements for the region, improving transport, safety, and the daily lives of residents and tourists.
